Note : At the time that I wrote this, I had the Sequence set up so Theater, Stage, and Poetry succeeded Reading and Writing. When I came to the Word and Logic lesson, I realized I had the Sequence Wrong. This is — in fact — the 3rd Academic Discipline Group. Reading and Writing is the 4th Academic Discipline Grouping. 

Everything is Music. Everything has a beat. Everything has a Pulse. Physics is in everything. 

Speech has a Metric. Words have a beat.

Everything moves and ebbs and flows and breathes. 

It is Theater and Stage and Poetry that trains the Authentic Voice to awaken and speak. 

You’ve studied Music. You’ve studied Art. You can hone your Intuition. You can hone your Interpretation and can translate Feeling into Imagination into Being.

You can read and Define. It’s not time to Open your Voice. Connect with others. Share and take turns. It is time for Human Circuitry and Power Economics, Public Speaking, and Word to take shape as you Define. 

Theater is about Team work. It is about Story. It is about Communication. It is about your Voice. 

Theater and Stage is all about the Self being discovered on the Inside and coming forth to the outside. Theater opens the Soul and releases the Voiceless Identity. 

Poetry is the rhythm of life and word. It is the pulse in which we speak. It is the honing of our ability to debate, discuss, share, and listen. 

This is the Foundation of the Linguistics and Logic and Math to come. This is the Bridge of Communication that is between Art and Science. 

This is the Bridge between Silent Thought and Authentic Voice. 

This is the Bridge of any and all Communication Gaps. 

You will not ever “get good at talking” if you never open your Voice and SPEAK. And Theater and Stage is nothing but you opening your voice and SPEAKING. 

It is the “Stand and read out loud” of reading. It is the “Perform that piano composition or sing before an audience.” It is the “Tell us a story.” It is the mediator stepping forward and helping to settle an argument or dispute. 

It is the Attorney in a Courtroom. It is the Manager leading a meeting. It is the Business Owner presenting his Pitch Deck. It is the Author standing up and saying THIS IS MY VOICE. 

It is the Assertion of the Self. 

It is the Teacher in every classroom.

It is the Scientist standing before their peers. 

It is the Activists taking the lead for change. 

All the world *is* a stage and all have been blind to this fact. 

Theater and Stage is Story Presentation. It is more important than Reading and Writing for LONG before we could read and write we had Theater and Stage and Poetry!

Theater and Stage is the Human Experience. Every culture, every society, every campfire at every gathering… This is Theater and Stage. 

It is Story and Projection and Voice. 

It was there before the Cave Paintings. How DARE our Educators strip this from our us. Without Story the Human would Die.

It is the Pulse and the music, the beat, and the math of how we think, move, and talk. It is the telling of our Story. It is our long-lost love… which is why each and every one of us, every night sits down with Theater and Stage and we read a story, we watch a story, we tell a story, we think well into the night as we drift off to sleep… The last thing we do every night is Story. 

The first thing we do every morning is story. 

And Theater and Stage is Story.

How dare our Educators take this away from us. Story is the Love of Lives. Every single one of us. We are Story. 

Don’t believe me? Google “How much does the average Human Being spend on Story every year?”

Books, Movies, Broadway, Gossip… We can’t open our mouths without returning to Theater and Stage. 

Why is it not in our Curriculums? 

What dumb fuck made that decision?

Theater and Stage is the 4th Stage of Communication. It is the Open Voice that delivers. It is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Ethic. It is the 5th and the 6th as Equal Footing is mastered here. The stage hands are just as important as the Actors as the director as the Audience. There is no one who is not important in Theater and Stage. 

The Audience is the 7th Ethic. 

The Stage is the 8th Ethic. 

The Theater is the 9th Ethic.

Our Make-Believe and Imagination was built for this. Parents, start your children at 4 years old and keep this going until they are 25 years old. This is Mandatory. And watch our Communication Problems disappear. Watch our Ethics sky rocket. Watch our team work soar. Improvisation will become second nature. 

Remember. It is called a “Play.” If the child wants to work backstage, direct, or do lighting or script writing, let them. Theater has a place for everyone. 

It needs to be a mandatory community event. It is all of us coming together for Story. Coming together to build Story.

I remember one theater production… we were doing Oklahoma! and one student, Anthony — he was a bully. But, something in him drew him to theater that year. And suddenly… he was family. 

The moment he joined the Cast, he was kin. 

Two days before showtime, the actor selected to play Judd Fry (the show’s villain) left the show. Anthony, at the drop of the hat stepped in. He learned the lines and queues in 2 days. We all came together and helped him through it. 

I watched Theater and Stage transform this bully into family and clan. During the show, he forgot one line and, staying in character, we helped him out. 

When it was over, he didn’t go back to being a bully. He stayed family. He belonged. 

There is a magic in Theater that only Theater people know. Its absences if why no one in this world knows how to connect.
