About Lesson

Print.

Under no circumstances should anyone learn Cursive. Maybe spend 3 months on Cursive writing, and then get off of it. Books and the Internet is all in Print.

Reading must be set at a high standard and it requires Practice.

Silent Reading is not the Same thing as Spoken-Out-Loud Reading.

When you write, read your work out loud as well as in your head. Poetry is vital in this. Music is still here, very present in the Written Word. The Written Word is Music.

The 3rd Ethic of Self-Regulation is the Reading and Writing of the Academic Disciplines.

This should begin at 4 years old. No later than 5. By 6 years old, the student should be as fluent in reading as a Professional and this is quite easy to obtain.

All the student should be doing from 4, 5, and 6 years old is reading.

I learned how to read from a Parochial School where the highest of standard was set for reading — which was weird because they banned all books that did not have Christ or God in them.

In the 6th Grade, 12 Years old, when I was transferred to the Public School, 99% of the students read like Kindergarteners. I was stunned at the incompetence of teachers not being able to teach even basic reading skills to students.

If I made a mistake in my reading, it was required that I go back to the beginning of the paragraph and do it again. “Read what is there.” This is a hard core rule that I was not allowed to break.

A person should read as fluent as they talk. Until they are at this skill level, they should be learning how to read.

After they read as fluent as they talk, poetry and theater flow into the story, which is mandatory for what is to come next.

From 5, 6, 7, and 8 years old, all the child should be doing is Reading and Writing alongside Music and Art.

In Scientific Method, this is Definition. The Stage where we begin to use Word to carve out Meaning from Intuition to Imagination to Definition. Definition is the 3rd Stage of Communication.

Word Building and Linguistics with Etymology and Vocabulary should be added here. How Words are compounded and Built like Blocks. How words are Constructed and Formed from Intuition to Imagination and birthed into Definition. This is the Logic of Words, which is coming up.

Reading and Writing compounds with Music and Art as the 3rd Stage of Communication. Arithmetic is added with simple Addition and Subtraction. Letters are Symbols of a Message. Numbers are Symbols of a Message.

This must be taught to students.

The Story is what is put inside the Child’s hands at this stage. Their ability to write Story, Tell Story, Share Story, and Read Story.

This is where the student takes Courage and Self-Nourishment, Merges it with Self-Authority and learns to regulate their Reading and Writing with Self-Nourishment (Music) and Creation or Building. Now they must master Communication.

Once the Student learns to read, the Teacher is obsolete. There is nothing the Student can’t discover on their own. Turn the child over to Wikipedia and let the child explore and discover.

Let them become like Explorers with their own Ship as they embark on their own Learning Journey. Where will they go and what will they do?

Students must be given freedom to Explore their own Education.

Parents, get the child as many books as they can. The child must sample a buffet of topics and authors until they find their own.

E.B. White and Mrs. Frisby and The Rats of NIMH are great places to start children. Read to your child. Harry Potter is fantastic in introducing Children to the world of reading.

Introduce them to Fiction and Nonfiction. Aesops’ Fables is vital in this.

The Mission is their Independence and Reading and Writing is all about the DIY of Self-Learning.
