Art has a Story that is long that you are just now coming into. You are choosing to become part of this Story and maybe — if you choose it as your Vocation — you will add to it and compose your own Chapter.
The Composers of a Discipline are the Masters who choose to Add On to the Story. Where are you going to be The Author and of what Story?
Will you write the Story of Music?
Will you write the Story of Art?
Will you write the Story of Physics?
Will you write the Story of Philosophy?
Only Good Teachers are the Writers of the Disciplines. Which ones are yours?
Even the Discipline has Stages of Mastery.
First, we were Collectively Apprentices. We saw this up until the 13th Century. Then we were Tradesmen up until DaVinci. DaVinci was the first Master who could use The Vitruvian Man to simply explain Proportion and Perspective.
“But wait! The Ancient Greeks had sculpted Venus de Milo and Winged Victory! Weren’t they Masters?”
They were. But the Roman Empire in the 4th Century eliminated all Education, setting us all back as a Collective whole to Apprentice and we had to start the Learning Journey all over again.
Western Culture provides a unique “Walkthrough” of the Stages of Collective Learning and Mastery for this reason.
Remember. You should already have Apprentice Levels of Music and Dance down prior to Art. So you should already know how Story and Movement / Change occur.
Look for this when you look through Art. Ask yourself what is Art’s Story and how did it Move and Change over time? Where do you fit into The Story of Art?
This is what you are to be asking yourself when you walk through a Museum or look through Art History. Or any History. You are exploring and dissecting the Story of Progression, Movement, Change, and also… Perspective.
Now you are building Story.
