About Lesson

The purpose of this assignment is to teach the Artist how Colors in the Sky and the Sea change with Layer Background. This is an exercise in Color Theory.

The Sky is Blue because Space is Black and The Sun casts light between Black Space and your Eyes.

Bob Ross is fantastic to watch in this assignment. Watch what colors Professional Artists use as a Foundation or Base Coat before they paint the Background.

This is the same Color Theory Makeup Artists use in Foundation. Green is used with Concealer before the Makeup Artist applies the skin-colored foundation.

This is because — in Physics — all color is Blue, Red, or Green. This is the Visible Light Spectrum in Physics and how light interacts to create Color.

Paint two separate paintings, a Storm at Sea and the same Sea with an evening red sky on a calm sea. Clouds play an intricate part in this as they block the light (sun), changing the color scheme.

Spend a lot of time studying Sunrise and Sunset and how the light looks on clouds.

For reference, I spent 5+ years studying the effect Light has on Cloud, Sky, and Water.

Add Ice for an additional Challenge.
