We are talking about Foreground, Middle Ground, and Background.
- Foreground is the detail nearest the Viewer.
- Middle Ground is the detail in the middle of the Art.
- Background is the detail near and around the Horizon Line.
The Focal Point can be anywhere in the Art.
You will need to decide Point of View as an Artist.
You will need Ratios (Think of The Scales) and also Relativity, and Proportions. Geometry and Math. Study DaVinci’s The Vitruvian Man.
Ratios is the Measurement used to determine Definition based on Comparison. It is literally “Comparison Mathematics” and our Subconscious Minds do it Naturally.
Comparisons are the Metric to define Ratio.
We will focus on Buildings, Architecture, and Geometry with The Horizon Line and The Focal Point. City Drawing is excellent for studying Perspective and Proportion.
You learn Vocabulary along the way. This is a journey. You have to collect data like seashells on the seashore, which then, you use to build a collage.
The Triangle is in Every piece of Art. The Triangle is the Triangulation of Focal Point with two “Base Points.” All Art contains Triangles.
Use the Vitruvian Man to identify more Ratios. When you draw plants, animals, or humans, you will be working with Ratios all the time.
