About Lesson
This is very important. A lot of people in Modern Art confuse “Style” with Era.
The Period (Era) is the TIME Frame and — especially when it comes to Modern Art — could mean any number os Styles.
Cubism, Fauvism, Art Deco… These are Styles.
The Period is Modern Art, which begins around 1890 and continues on to this day. By the 1940’s Modern Art exploded and became Contemporary Art, which is “Modern” Modern Art. This is when art went Abstract… which is a Style of Modern Art.
Technically, all Art of the Present Day will always be “Modern Art,” but, until we evolve out of this current Art Period and enter the next one, we won’t be able to retire the Era Title “Modern Art.”
